"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Services
Traditional methods of therapy may not be for everyone, and therapeutic fit founded on client autonomy and collaborative treatment planning is essential for healing and growth in the therapeutic process. Having options beyond the usual approach can be instrumental for lasting positive change, allowing for more in-depth work as well as creativity and fun. Rachel offers a variety of service options to that end, which can cater to your individual needs and preferences as well as Rachel's therapeutic recommendations. Rachel has completed additional training and experience in these areas, which can either be integrated into regular therapy sessions or provided at an additional cost: Somatic Experiencing, Yoga, Extended sessions, or Therapy Intensives.

What to Expect
Getting Started
You are invited to peruse this website and learn a bit more about Rachel's approach to therapy to get a sense of what to expect from working with her. If you think you might work well together then reach out to set up a free 15-minute initial consultation to further determine if it will be a good therapeutic fit. If after doing so you both decide to move forward then an intake session will be scheduled and you will receive an invitation to create a client account through Theranest. This is a secure site for you to complete forms, paperwork and assessments, enter billing information and make payments.
Intake Process
Upon completion of the required paperwork and forms for participating in therapy, treatment begins with an intake session during which you and Rachel will review and address any questions and logistical concerns related to paperwork and the therapy process, as well as completion of the intake assessment form. This is a lengthy diagnostic assessment form or interview that explores your present concern(s) and relevant history, current symptoms and functioning, hopes for treatment and identifies strengths and resources you can draw upon along the way. Due to the nature of it, this assessment may take more than one session to complete.
Together you and Rachel will identify what you’d like to address in therapy and how you’d like to go about it, establishing therapeutic goals and creating an individualized treatment plan reflective of your needs and that honors your preferences while developing a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
Commitment to Therapy
Following the intake and establishment of a therapeutic relationship, you and Rachel will begin to explore your therapeutic concerns more deeply while also expanding coping skills and resources, building on your strengths, and connecting to your inner wisdom. It is generally recommended to start therapy with more frequent, consistent sessions to establish a strong therapeutic relationship and begin work on treatment concerns for therapy to provide some immediate gains and positive momentum - though this may not be the case for everyone and can be adjusted. Although there are certainly situations in which abbreviated or shorter-term treatment is effective, this is not the case for the majority of clients, and a longer commitment is needed to adequately address the presenting concerns.
